PROFILE

Morten Fink-Jensen is a historian educated from University of Copenhagen (MA 1997, Ph.D. 2003). Having held research and teaching positions at University of Copenhagen and Roskilde University, he was in 2010 employed by The Danish School of Education, Aarhus University, as associate professor on a research project on the history of Danish schools. The work is being carried out at The Royal Library in Copenhagen where he since 2007 has been affiliated senior research fellow. He is also a member of the Board of The Danish Society for Publication of Historical Sources, and a member of the Board of The Society for Danish Church History.

His research and publications are dealing with the history of early modern Denmark in an international perspective with an emphasis on cultural and intellectual history. Key areas of interest include history of science, religion, magic, and witchcraft.



CURRENT RESEARCH AND ACTIVITIES

Besides research in the topics mentioned above, ongoing activities include:
 
Co-authorship of the first of five volumes on the history of Danish school teaching. The volume is set to be published in 2013 and will cover the history of Danish schools in the early modern period. It is part of a major reseach programme begun in 2010 at The Danish School of Education, Aarhus University. More information.

Joint editor (with Dr Charlotte Appel, Roskilde University) of a volume on Religious reading in the Lutheran North (1500-1800). The book includes contributions by eight Scandinavian scholars and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing in early 2011.


Participation in a research project on religious belief and practice in Denmark and Norway c.1500-1814. The research group consists of eight Norwegian and Danish scholars and is being headed by Dr Arne Bugge Amundsen (Oslo) and Dr Henning Laugerud (Bergen). Visit the project's homepage.
